Foster secures historic bowls win

Paul Foster was delighted with his victory
Foster is the first player to win six World Bowls titles

Paul Foster was "over the moon" after becoming the first player to win six World Bowls Tour titles with victory in the Scottish International Open.

Foster, the fourth seed, edged out Englishman Ian Bond on a tie-break 8-3 7-8 2-0 to win the final in Perth.

"I couldn't do anything wrong and every bowl felt so good," the 36-year-old from Troon said after his historic win.

"It's hard to believe. I'm over the moon. To win one title is good enough but six - I'm not doing too badly."

Fellow Scot Alex Marshall, who suffered a second round exit, previously held the record with five Tour wins.

Bond admitted he was fortunate to take the final into a tie-break.

"Paul was brilliant today. He put me under pressure from the start," he said.

"I was fairly pleased with the way I played but it really didn't matter how I played as Paul was brilliant. His first bowl was too good."
