Holme Head pull off shock victory

Holme Head's hopes of avoiding the dreaded wooden spoon in the Carliol Bowls League were handed a boost with Thursday's 54-49 win against West End.

Edenside also caused a shock, beating title-chasing Brampton 51-47 to aid their hopes of finishing off the bottom of the table.

Normal service was resumed at the top of the table, leaders Subscription winning 76-47 against Dalston.

Finally, Courtfield scraped a close 57-56 win against British Rail.

There were a couple of high scoring games in the Over-60s League, Wetheral winning 73-46 against Subscription, while Brampton beat Linton 72-44.

Leaders Dalton fell to a 61-55 defeat to Courtfield, while West End and Stanwix kept up their push for the title with wins against Edenside [63-52] and Currock [65-52] respectively.
