Royal wins maiden crown in Wales

Suffolk's Mark Royal claimed his first World Bowls Tour title after beating fellow Englishman Greg Harlow in the final of the Welsh International Open.

The 13th seed, 33, described his 7-5, 11-6 triumph at the Selwyn Samuel Centre in Llanelli as "magic".

"I bowled some of the best woods in my life this week - it's definitely been my best season ever," said Royal.

Runner-up Harlow ended home hopes in the semi-final when he beat Wales' Jason Greenslade, the fifth seed.
