Chiswick Bridge, completed in 1932, is a fine backdrop to the finish, which, as at the start, is marked by an inscribed stone approximately 100 metres below the bridge.
In the years following the first Boat Race over the Putney to Mortlake course, several started at Mortlake.
But since 1863, the experiment has not been repeated and Chiswick Bridge has marked the end of the race.
How to get there:
Trains: Chiswick, Mortlake
Tube: Kew Gardens (District)
Buses: 109, 209
