Wales international centre Stuart Robbins has died at the age of 33. Robbins, born in Neath, was found in his hotel room in Galway on Monday, having apparently died in his sleep. The 6ft 10in player played for London Towers and Thames Valley in the British Basketball League and also played professionally in Germany and Belgium. He had just completed a successful debut season with Limerick in the Irish Superleague, leading the team in scoring and rebounding this season. Robbins played at St Joseph's University in the United States before returning to play for Thames Valley in 1999. From there, he went to Belgian club Bree for a season before being signed by the now-defunct London Towers for two seasons, during which he made his debut in the Euroleague. His career then took him to Germany, including a spell with second division team Kaiserslautern. He had coached Limerick in a college tournament over the weekend. A post mortem examination was being conducted on Tuesday to determine the exact case of death.
