Worcester Wolves begin search for new coach

Wolves had won three of their eleven league games.

Worcester Wolves managing director Roger Clarke is in talks with potential new coaches after the shock departure of Chuck Evans and six players.

Wolves will not play again until January and have been fined by the BBL for calling off five games.

Clarke told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "You tie in with a coach and then jointly decide on the players but losing both is very damaging.

"It is difficult having to do the coach and the playing staff as well."

And Clarke says Worcester had no choice but to call off the games.

"Not having the coach and the players we could not field a team, so we declared it to the league," he added.

He has played under some hard coaches and the players have said he ran a tough regime

"The immediate reaction was to show us support, we have been a good club and they want to keep the BBL going with robust clubs.

"But a lot of clubs in a lot of sports are very fragile at the moment and they have given us breathing space so we are happy with that."

Clarke says the events that led to Evans and six players leaving the club were totally unexpected.

"He has played under some hard coaches and the players have said he ran a tough regime," he added.

"I can't really comment at the moment but he definitely used some very inappropriate words and we disciplined him over it."
