Riders recover to book semi slot

Brad Wierzbicki
Wierzbicki played a key role in Leicester's win

Leicester Riders staged a superb late comeback to see off Worcester Wolves 96-87 and book their place in the BBL Cup semi-finals for the first time.

Riders, who were last week beaten by Wolves in the league, trailed by 18 in the third quarter but recovered to win thanks to a 13-0 final-quarter run.

Brad Wierzbicki led the way for Riders in Sunday's home tie with 38 points.

The victory sets up a semi-final against the winners of the Everton Tigers or Sheffield Sharks game.

Leicester edged the first period 26-21 but the visitors seized control with a 14-1 run to lead 54-40 at the end of the second.

Wolves continued to hold the advantage in the third quarter but Riders recovered from 54-67 to trail by two heading into the final quarter.

But a Wierzbicki three-point play and another from LaTaryl Williams saw the home side move into an unassailable position.
