Carlton Aaron dominated inside to score 25 points and take 12 rebounds, with Gaylon Moore adding 19 points.
Plymouth led almost throughout and were only threatened when the Eagles closed the gap to six points at the start of the final quarter.
Tony Dorsey hit 20 points to lead the Eagles and Shawan Robinson added 15.
Plymouth coach Gary Stronach heaped praise on his heroes after the game.
"Newcastle couldn't control Carlton Aaron," he said. "We spaced the game well and they couldn't cope with the big fellow."
And the coach also praised unsung hero DeAntoine Beasley, saying: "I've seen an improvement in him every year.
"But there are other guys on this team like Gavin Love as well - he's been with me for 12 years now."
