Right-handed starter Matt Garza was Tampa Bay's Most Valuable Player in the American League Championship Series against Boston, with an ERA of just 1.38 from his two starts.
Garza had been traded from the Minnesota Twins last winter, and had an 11-9 win-loss record during the regular season.
Also in the rotation is Scott Kazmir, who played a small but significant part in earning the Rays home field advantage for the World Series - having been the game-winning pitcher in the All-Star Game.
Rays manager Joe Maddon has utilised his bullpen well over the season, offering different relievers the chance to act as "closer".
However, primary closer Troy Percival's injury could see Dan Wheeler - who was Phillies closer Brad Lidge's eighth-innings setup man in their Houston days - take on the role for the World Series.
