Baseball's single-game attendance mark was smashed at the LA Memorial Coliseum on Saturday when 115,300 people saw Boston play the Los Angeles Dodgers.

World Series champions Boston beat the Dodgers 7-4 in an exhibition game ahead of Tuesday's opening day of the season.

The attendance smashed the previous record of 93,103 at the same venue for another exhibition game in 1959.

The unofficial mark was set at the 1956 Olympics when an estimated 114,000 watched Australia v USA in Melbourne.
