Bonds is an unpopular figure outside of San Francisco
|
Barry Bonds, Major League Baseball's controversial home runs record holder, is without a team less than two weeks before the start of the new season.
Bonds, 43, was indicted in November on four counts of perjury and one count of obstruction of justice.
The charges stem from 2003 grand jury testimony in which he denied knowingly
using illegal performance-enhancing drugs. He pleaded not guilty.
Bonds passed the previous homer mark of Hank Aaron last year and now has 762.
He made $19.3m in 2007 with the San Francisco, but the Giants decided to let him go after 15 seasons.
