Veteran pitcher Roger Clemens' return to the New York York Yankees line-up has been postponed due to injury.
The 44-year-old agreed a $28m deal for the rest of the season last week and was due to play on Monday in Chicago.
But Yankees manager Joe Torre said over the weekend that Clemens is suffering from a "fatigued right groin".
Clemens does not start earning under the terms of his lucrative pro-rated contract until he is actually added to the team's active roster.
He has made three minor league starts since announcing his return to the Yankees with whom he won the World Series in 1999 and 2000.
Baseball's biggest team are currently enduring a poor season and languish 12-and-a-half games behind old rivals Boston in the American League East.
