Briton Rajiv Ouseph run at the World Championships came to an end as he was resoundingly beaten 21-9 21-9 by world number one Lee Chong Wei in Paris.

The Malaysian took a mere 27 minutes to defeat the Londoner, who could console himself with the news of his rise to a career-high 14th in the world rankings.

"I tried everything I could but he was too good," admitted Ouseph.

"But it's been a good week," added the three-time and reigning English Open champion after his round three exit.

Ouseph was the final Briton to be eliminated from the event at the French capital's Coubertin Stadium.

Earlier, Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork were beaten 20-22 21-12 21-18 in the last 16 of the mixed doubles against Thomas Laybourn and Kamilla Juhl.

The English pair had beaten their opponents in the third round of this year's Yonex All England Championships.

However, after clawing their way back from 14-8 down in the decider to within one point of the Danes 14-13, 17-16 and 19-18, the defending world champions saw out victory.

Three hours later, Robertson returned to the court along with Anthony Clark to face 2006 and 2009 world champions Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng.

And it took the Chinese pair just 24 minutes to crush them 21-6 21-9, prompting Clark to afterwards admit the outcome was "a bit embarrassing".
