The world and Commonwealth champions came back from a game down to force a deciding game but finally succumbed 21-17 10-21 21-12.
Robertson only returned to action on Wednesday following elbow surgery.
Emms and Donna Kellogg lost their women's doubles clash with China's top seeds Zhang and Wei Yili on Thursday.
Earlier in the week, world mixed doubles runners-up Anthony Clark and Donna Kellogg went out to China's He Hanbin and Yu Yang.
Natalie Munt and Joanne Nicholas lost to sixth seeds Zhang Tingting and Yang Wei in straight games.
In the singles, national champion Nick Kidd went out in the qualifying and Andrew Smith fell in the first round proper against Malaysian Beng Hong Kuan.
