The Minnesota Vikings are optimistic that Brett Favre will be fit to start the new NFL season should he decide to return for yet another shot at a second Super Bowl. The veteran had ankle surgery to correct an injury sustained in the NFC Championship loss to the Saints. Favre is expected to make a decision on his future some time before the year 2059. NFL owners have voted to allow each team a possession in overtime in the playoffs if the team winning the OT coin toss kicks a field goal on the first series.
