The NFL is investigating claims that the Dallas Cowboys have set their stall out for Philadelphia's Terrell Owens.
The controversial wide receiver will not play again for the Eagles this season after falling out with fellow players and the club's management.
An arbitrator has ruled Owens could be banned and deactivated instead of becoming free to join another team.
But Fox Sports reported Eagles owner Jeff Lurie is unhappy with comments by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Owens.
The TV network said the league have told Philadelphia they will look into the matter.
Fox claim the NFL sent a memo last week to clubs warning against contact with Owens, or making comments about interest in him, while he remains on the Eagles' roster.
But Jones, speaking on a radio show, said: "He's a competitive player. He's an outstanding addition to an offence.
"In general, I am a risk-taker. We've gone down that road... I probably have a
propensity to try and make things work.
"We've got a quarterback who is arguably as fine a long-ball thrower as there is in the league. A top receiver could flourish with Drew Bledsoe."
