![]() Redgrave is embraced by Pinsent after making history
Steve Redgrave races for the first time on Saturday since his glorious fifth gold medal achieved at the Sydney Olympics.
Redgrave and the rest of the victorious coxless fours - Matthew Pinsent, James Cracknell and Tim Foster - will be racing at the Supersprint Grand Prix at Dorney Lake near Windsor. The day-long event will pit top teams from around the world over a short course of just 350m. It promises to be a fascinating spectacle and BBC Sport Online will be streaming live video action from the event. BBC Grandstand will also be covering the occasion from 1350 BST- 1410 and again from 1615 -1645, with presenter Steve Rider at Windsor. The Olympic gold medallists will be there to renew their rivalry against teams from the USA, Russia, Holland and Denmark. Olympic medallists Redgrave, who may be appearing in competition for the last time, will be joining his rowing partner and great friend Pinsent in the men's pairs in the International category. Other categories include Elite (club rowers from around the world), Universities (the best university teams, including Oxford and Cambridge) and Schools (Britain's best junior rowers). The Great Britain team will be entirely represented by gold and silver Olympic medallists as they set out to defend their title which they won last year. Barcelona gold medallist Greg Searle takes part in the Men's single sculls while Sydney silver medal winners Miriam Batten and Gillian Lindsay will be seeking glory in the other event, the Women's double sculls. American challenge In addition there will also be a relay challenge between leading universities from both sides of the Atlantic. Nottingham University face the American challenge of Yale and the University of Virginia. The sets of teams will each have one rowing machine and start at the same time with each member of the respective teams handing over to their colleague while the machine is still running. The five members race for one minute each with the changeovers completed in the first 10 seconds of each leg.
