Woodhall targets Calzaghe showdown
Richie Woodhall
Richie Woodhall wants to cash in on big name fights
Former WBC super-middleweight champion Richie Woodhall wants another shot at winning a world title by fighting WBO title holder Joe Calzaghe.

Woodhall aims to hold talks with promoter Frank Warren to set up a showdown with Welshman Calzaghe.

The 32-year-old Telford fighter wants to cash in on big name fights towards the end of his career.

German Markus Beyer took Woodhall's WBC title when he beat him in Telford last October.

Title shot

Woodhall said: "I want another world title shot and a fight with Joe Calzaghe is the obvious one.

"A fight with Joe should really have happened when I was WBC champion. Frank Warren already knows that this is the fight that I want.

"At my age I have got to be looking at what are the best fights financially and in these terms it is a fight with Calzaghe.

"I cannot see myself getting a bigger fight than this at the moment."
