Devon's Ned Taylor has been crowned British Freestyle Kite Surfing Champion in Blackpool.

The 21-year-old from Exmouth won the Pro Men's title ahead of Luke Whiteside and Ali Barratt.

Taylor told BBC Devon: "It's taken me a long time working my way up through the ranks from amateur through to pro.

"I'm really happy to eventually have this title after five years of competing and hopefully it will open a few more doors for me."

Taylor's victory came at the end of a five-stop tour, with the other heats held in Norfolk, Cumbria, Tees Valley and Scotland.

Hannah Whiteley won the Pro Ladies event, with Holly Kennedy in second and Nicky Rudd in third.

With the title of British Champion now safely under his belt, Taylor will shortly head to Australia to hone his skills during the winter months.

He added: "Britain is probably the best place for kite surfing, and living in Devon is perfect as you're always guaranteed a bit of wind."
