The Isle of Man will take its largest ever team to the Commonwealth Games in Delhi for the 2010 event in October.

A record 31 athletes have achieved the qualifying standards to compete in seven sports including cycling, archery, swimming and shooting.

Tonia Lushington of the Manx Commonwealth Games Association told the BBC it is a very accomplished group.

"We have an extremely talented team for Delhi and we are looking forward to some inspired performances," she said.

With 71 nations expected to take part, the Games will open on 3 October.

In 2006, Mark Cavendish won the Island's first gold medal for 20 years, in the 20km scratch race.
