Evander Holyfield in search of a rematch with Lewis

Evander Holyfield has revealed he wants to fight Lennox Lewis again following his slender points victory over John Ruiz in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Holyfield was delighted after claiming the WBA crown but is now looking to his next fight and Britain's Lewis, who holds the WBC and IBF belts, is at the top of his list.

However, Lewis' promoter Panos Eliades is sceptical about the chances of a third showdown between the pair - and believes Mike Tyson could be a more viable option for his fighter.

Holyfield told BBC Five Live: "I'm hoping to get Lennox to fight me right away. I'd prefer to fight Lennox Lewis."

Lewis has to fight mandatory challenger New Zealand's David Tua to avoid being stripped of his IBF belt.

With a number of options available to the Briton, Holyfield admitted: "He's in that driving seat and it's up to him."

Lennox's decision

"You can't open anything up without Lennox not wanting to do it - Lennox has got to make a decision if that's what he wants to do."

But Eliades poured cold water on an immediate Lewis-Holyfield rematch and revealed a Tyson fight was the favoured option for his fighter.

"I know he wants Tyson," Eliades told BBC Five Live.

"I'll have to discuss with Lennox - I think if Holyfield fights another fight we could give him the opportunity.

"But we hope there will be a Tyson fight and that's what we are looking for in April next year."
