National success for Cornish trio

Newman, Schilling and Hicks with their trophies from the Championships

Three Cornish athletes have won at the British Taekwondo Championships in Cheltenham last Sunday.

Alana Schilling, Ciaran Hicks and John Newman all won gold in their fields.

Schilling came first in the girls yellow and green belt division, whilst Hicks took gold in the boys blue and red belt category.

Newman, who is an instructor at the Kernow Tae Kwon-Do Academy, won the a 'Champion of Destruction' division, by being the best at breaking boards.
