A victorious Jersey Petanque team

Jersey defeated Guernsey in the 23rd inter-insular petanque match on Saturday at Carrefour Petanque club.

Jersey claimed a comprehensive 30-18 win, their first at home since 1997.

Jersey captain Mick Cotillardc said: "It's been a long time for us to win at home. The whole team played well as did Guernsey, they gave us a good run."

The Jersey pairs of Matthew Pinel and Marc Nicol as well as Neil Selby and Michel Morel went through the tournament unbeaten.

And while Jersey take the 2009 title, Guernsey still lead with 12 wins to Jersey's 10, with one draw, of the 23 inter insulars played.
