BBC to show Commonwealth action
Melbourne 2006
BBC will broadcast 2006 Commonwealth Games
The BBC has been appointed as the UK broadcaster of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

Melbourne 2006 chairman Ronald Walker said: "With the BBC on board we can now ensure people throughout the UK share the experience of this great event."

More than 4500 athletes from 71 countries will take part in the event, which runs from 15-26 March.

The Games are also expected to attract a global television audience in excess of one billion people.
