Queen's gain revenge in Boat Race
Underdogs Queen's University, Belfast defeated Trinity College, Dublin by one length to win Saturday's Lomac Tiles Varsity Boat Race on the River Lagan.

The Queen's eight were trailing around the initial bends but they overtook the Dublin students midway through the race and hung on to take the honours.

It was revenge for the Belfast eight who were defeated by four lengths in the inaugural event last year.

Queen's made it a double celebration with their Ladies eight also winning.

Queen's captain Chris Wylie was delighted with the way his eight fought back after trailing.

"It was a real nip and tuck race," said Wylie. "I was uncertain throughout.

"But once we hit the front in the final straight with 300 metres to go, and the corners had worked themselves out, I knew we were going to win.

"They had the edge in the first half of the race as they headed us and we could not see them.

"But through the middle of the race from the Ormeau Bridge we came strong and we could watch and respond to them."
