British sailors Nick Rogers and Joe Glanfield won bronze at the 470 world championship in Croatia.
Rogers and Glanfield will compete in the 470 at the Athens Olympics
The Athens-bound pair finished three points behind Swedes Johan Molund and Martin Andersson with Australians Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page in gold.
The Britons had one second and two thirds from their 12 races, which included two discards, in Zadar.
Hampshire's Rogers and Exmouth's Glanfield missed out on a bronze medal by one point at the Sydney Olympics.
Rogers said: "We are really pleased to have medalled at this event. Our scoreline makes the championship look fairly easy but on a number of occasions it was certainly quite stressful and we made some good comebacks.
"We sailed really well in the final series, the gold fleet, and this we are particularly pleased with as the standard of the gold fleet is similar to how it will be at the Olympics in three months time."
Britain's women 470 team Christina Bassadone and Katherine Hopson retired from the event because of illness.
