Bobsled driver killed
German bobsled driver Yvonne Cernota has died after her sled crashed during a practice run in Koenigsee.

Stefan Grandi, who was riding with Cernota when her sled overturned in a curve, hit the wall and catapulted from the course, was seriously injured.

At the World Championships last month on the same course in Germany, Cernota, 24, was the brakewoman for Cathleen Martini and the pair finished fourth.

She died on her way to hospital in an emergency services helicopter.

A Police spokesman said an investigation into the accident had been opened but everything indicated it was a driving mistake.

As well as her fourth place at the Worlds, Cernota won gold at this year's European Championships.
