Great Britain won three more medals on the final day of the World Rowing Championships in Milan to take their total to six - one gold, four silver and a bronze.
The men's coxed four - Sydney gold medallists Kieran West and Tom Stallard, Cambridge Blue James Livingston and newcomer Richard Egington - were edged into second by the USA.
With 250m to go, the British four raised their rate to 43 strokes a minute but the Americans held on to win by a canvas.
In the lightweight women's pairs, Britain's Julia Warren and Michelle Dollimore, winners of the gold medal last month in Lucerne, took silver behind Romania.
In the final race of the championships, the men's eight marked a return to the sort of form that won them the Olympic title in Sydney when they took the bronze medal behind Canada and the USA.
