Draper and Hiscocks won gold with a day to spare

British sailing enjoyed one of its most successful ever days when Team GB picked up two golds and a bronze at the world championships in Cadiz on Tuesday.
Double Olympic medallist Ben Ainslie won the Finn class, with his training partner Andrew Simpson collecting a bronze medal.
And Chris Draper and Simon Hiscocks teamed up to win gold with a day to spare in the 49er class.
Ainslie went into the final day needing to finish
within five places of Spanish sailor Rafael Trujillo to secure victory.
And in a nail-biting race, Ainslie rounded the first mark of the course back in the
early 20s, with the Spaniard amongst the top five and in pole position.
But Ainslie carved his way through the fleet and moved into seventh by
the second lap and third by the start of the last leg.
The fight ended with Trujillo finishing only one boat ahead of Ainslie at the finish.
Victory in Cadiz ensured Ainslie of a place in the British Olympic squad for Athens
next year, where he will attempt to win his third Olympic medal.
Draper and Hiscocks took Britain's second gold as they wrapped up the event in
style, going one better than the silver medal they won last year.
Fellow British sailors Paul Brotherton and Mark Asquith finished the day in
second place overall, and with two races left on Wednesday, they will be keen to
protect their position.
The Tornado crew of Leigh McMillan and Mark Bulkeley have confirmed a gold or
silver finish going into the final race on Wednesday.
