Jets prove formidable
The Chester Jets have won all four trophies this season
Chester won the Trophy final in January
The Chester Jets completed a clean sweep of trophies with a 93-82 win over Sheffield in the British Basketball League Championship Final at Wembley Arena.

Jets forward John McCord led all scorers with 31 points and added seven rebounds on his way to collecting the MVP award.

Chester became the first team in 10 years to win all four of the major titles in the same season.

The Jets opened up an early lead, but Sheffield's Jeff Monaco and Nate Reinking both hit three-pointers to help the Sharks claw back to 20-19 at the end of the first quarter.

The Sharks took a 26-23 lead in the second quarter after a 6-0 run ignited by Michael Payne three-pointer.

But McCord began to take over, scoring eight points in a 17-6 run.

Sheffield refused to lie down and they briefly held a 43-42 lead shortly before half-time, but it was to be the last time they were in front.

The Jets - already winners of the Northern Conference, the National Cup and the BBL Trophy - began the second half with a 17-8 run that gave them a double-digit lead for the first time.

The Sharks remained in the game until late in the fourth quarter.

But the Jets had too many weapons and a James Hamilton dunk put them 89-80 ahead and the game was as good as over.

New Zealand forward Pero Cameron scored 20 points and added 14 rebounds for Chester, with flashy guard John Thomas adding 19 points in a balanced offence.

Lynard Stewart led the way for Sheffield with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Payne scored four three-pointers on his way to 15 points and Justin Phoenix added 14.

Robbie Peers' side became the first team to win four trophies since Kevin Cadle's Kingston side did it in 1992.

It was a heartbreaking loss for the Sharks, who lost in last year's final and have been beaten on their last six trips to Wembley.
