Frankie's Champagne moment
Dubai Destination defeats Rock of Gibraltar
Dubai Destination (r) beats Rock of Gibraltar
Dubai Destination is the new favourite for next year's 2000 Guineas after a superb display in the Rothmans Royals Champagne Stakes at Doncaster.

The Godolphin colt stormed home in the Group Two contest under jockey Frankie Dettori who had a day to remember with a near 49-1 treble.

Dubai Destination is now as low as 5-1 with the Tote for the Newmarket Classic.

The David Loder-trained 3-1 chance came from last to first under a superb ride from Dettori to beat 11-10 favourite Rock of Gibraltar by a length.

Rock of Gibraltar, owned by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and trained by Aidan O'Brien led going into the closing stages, but was left trailing in Dubai Destination's wake.

"He showed a tremendous change of gear there and will get a mile easily. He is definitely a Guineas horse," said Dettori.

"It was amazing. He had four lengths to make up and did it half a furlong and went away."

"He's learning all the time and it was a great feel he gave me."

The second leg of Dettori's treble came in the next race, the Troy Stakes, with Ekraar edging out Hill Country by a head.

Jimmy Fortune looked to have the race won on Hill Country but Ekraar fought back in the final 100 yards to win at 7-2.

Dettori then made it three-in-a-row in the CPL Industries Challenge Trophy on 7-4 favourite Rumpold.

Earlier, Advance Party fulfilled a long-term plan by winning the opening race.

He had been aimed at the £200,000 St Leger Yearling Stakes ever since being bought back by breeder Patrick Burns in the Town Moor sale ring 12 months ago.

And though he missed the cut for Wednesday's oversubscribed contest, he made no mistake in the £40,000 DBS St Leger Yearling Stakes reserve race.

Sent off 3-1 favourite, he overcame a slow start and weaved his way through the field under Kieren Fallon to head long-time leader Kool close home for ahalf-length win

In-form Spencer

Jamie Spencer warmed up for his ride on Mediterranean in Saturday's Rothmans Royals St Leger with victory on Lagudin (13-2) in the Joy UK Conditions Stakes.

Spencer swooped on Luca Cumani's colt inside the final furlong to collar the Henry Cecil-trained Aldebaran by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

Favourite Nooshman, backed from 3-1 into 15-8 at the off, finished the same distance back in third.

Trainer Mark Johnston scored with Darasim (6-1) in the Tote Exacta Mallard Stakes.

Joe Fanning steered the three-year-old colt home ahead of Ravenswood and Big Moment.
