Pantani set for comeback
![]() Marco Pantani has struggled in recent months
Former Tour de France winner Marco Pantani looks set to make his competitive comeback on the Tour of Burgos in Spain.
The 31-year-old Italian, who was not invited to this year's Tour de France due to poor form, failed to shine in the recent Tour of Castille and Leon. Pantani, who won the Tour in 1998, was left trailing on most of the serious climbs and failed to hold his own among the peloton. He subsequently pulled out of the San Sebastian Classic but the website of his Mercatone Uno team reveals he will be back in action soon. The Tour of Burgos runs for five days between 20-24 August.
