Baker takes bronze
Zoe Baker
Baker was 0.6 seconds behind the winner
Zoe Baker came third in the women's 50m breaststroke final, which was won by new Chinese sensation Xuejuan Luo.

Luo picked up her third medal of the championships after swimming 30.84 seconds, just one one-hundredth of a second outside the world record.

Baker came home in 31.40 to take the bronze, with America's Kristy Kowal just beating her for the silver.

Baker was the second fastest qualifier for the final, winning the B heat from Megan Quann in 31.27.

The time was just four-one-hundredths of a second outside the European record she set in the heats.

Poor finish

In the A semi-final of the men's 50m butterfly Mark Foster missed out on breaking Australian Geoff Huegill's world record by one-tenth of a second after a poor finish.

And Foster, who swam 23.66, then had to watch as Huegill went out in the B semi and did the job himself, recording a new mark of 23.44.

Nicola Jackson came sixth in the final of the women's 200m freestyle behind winner Giaan Rooney of Australia.

The 18-year-old Jackson, part of Britain's gold medal 4x200m relay squad, clocked 1:59.44 - just 0.12 outside her own British record.

Sarah Price reached the final of the 100m backstroke after finishing third in the B semi in 1:01.91.
