Burks heads for the Valley
Eric Burks in action for the Leopards
Burks had a productive spell with the Leopards
Former British Basketball League player of the year Eric Burks has been recruited by the Thames Valley Tigers for next season.

The experienced 29-year-old American has played in the BBL for five seasons with London Leopards, Milton Keynes and most recently at London Towers.

Burks claimed two successive league titles as well as the National Cup with the Leopards and was voted most valuable player in the BBL for 1997-98.

I still feel that he is one of the top point guards in the country
  Paul James, Tigers coach

The four-time All Star guard also won the Southern Conference with Towers last season and averaged 12 points-per-game.

"Eric is the kind of guy who has been there, seen it and done it, so I will be looking for his leadership qualities," said Tigers' head coach Paul James.

"We are very excited to have Eric on board with the Tigers. I still feel that he is one of the top point guards in the country and I still feel he has a job to do."

Burks is the fourth player to commit to Thames Valley for the new campaign.

He joins fellow new-recruit Barry Bowman, who arrived from Derby.

Greg Meldrum, Lee Walker and Kelvin Robinson have all decided to remain with the Tigers.
