Dettori to miss French Derby
![]() Dettori (right) is supended for a minor offence
Horseracing legend Frankie Dettori will miss June's French Derby after stewards found him guilty of irresponsible riding.
The Italian-born jockey was found to have obstructed Richard Dunne on Return in the 1540BST at Goodwood. However, stewards claimed that the offence was not a serious interference and gave him a lighter sentence than normal. Dettori, who was riding Godolphin's Hatha Anna, received a four day ban from 1-4 June inclusively. The reprieve will mean that the former English champion jockey will be able to ride in the Epsom Oaks and Derby on 8 and 9 June respectively. "Dettori manoeuvred to his left interfering with Quinn," said Jeremy Ker, the stewards secretary. "Stewards felt that because it had been a manoeuvre it was deemed to be irresponsible riding."
