Colorado give St Louis the blues

Colorado Avalanche 4-2 St Louis Blues
(Colorado lead the series 2-0) Colorado took control of the best-of-seven Western Conference finals, despite Patrick Roy conceding more than one goal for the first time in his six play-off career. Ray Bourque and Chris Drury each had a goal and an assist, with Adam Foote and Shjon Podein scoring the other Colorado goals. "We took care of business here at home. We're gonna go to St Louis and hopefully do the job there," said Bourque. "Patrick Roy is on top of his game and that is the difference," added Podein. The Avalanche drew first blood with a man advantage as Bourque blasted past Roman Turek after 13 minutes and 22 seconds of the first period. The Blues answered after eight minutes 27 seconds of the second on the power play as Scott Mellanby deflected a MacInnis shot past Roy. Colorado's lead was restored when Joe Sakic released Foote with just under two minutes left in the middle session. Podein and MacInnis traded third-period goals but Drury scored into an empty net with eight seconds left to seal the win with his league-leading eighth goal of the play-offs.
