The Los Angeles Kings grabbed a vital 1-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche to force their Western Conference semi-final series to a decisive seventh game. Glen Murray gave the Kings a lifeline when he scored two minutes and 41 seconds into double overtime. The 65th shot of the game also settled a goaltending duel between Patrick Roy and Felix Potvin, who has shut out the top-seeded Avalanche for 164 minutes, 28 seconds.
The puck dipped and Roy partially blocked it with his right pad, but could not stop it from entering the cage. "They always say shoot a rolling puck," said Murray, who has four goals in this series after he was kept scoreless in the first round against Detroit. Los Angeles had been written off after losing Games Three and Four at home, but have rallied to put the series back within their reach Potvin, a star player for the Kings on Sunday night, made 33 saves for his seventh career play-off shutout. However, it is a worrying result for Colorado before Wednesday's deciding game. The Avalanche have lost a seventh game in each of the last three years.
