Blues stun Stars in Dallas
![]() Marty Reasoner was St. Louis' star man in Dallas
Dallas Stars 2-4 St. Louis Blues
Marty Reasoner scored two and set up a third as the St. Louis Blues beat the Dallas Stars on Friday in the opening game of their Western Conference semi-final series. Pavol Demitra added a goal and an assist and Pierre Turgeon claimed his third goal of the playoffs as the Blues seized home-ice advantage with their first ever playoff win in Dallas. The Blues' win continued a theme that began on Thursday when the visiting team took each of the other three second-round openers. Toronto beat the defending NHL champions at New Jersey, Pittsburgh won in Buffalo and Los Angeles surprised the much fancied Avalanche at Colorado. Serious ankle injury But Dallas, who have reached the Stanley Cup finals in the last two years, may have lost more than just one game in the best-of-seven series. The Stars's best player, Mike Modano, was injured in the first minute of the second period and did not return. Modano collided with Blues defenseman Alexei Gusarov and limped off the ice with an ankle injury. He left the Reunion Arena wearing a walking cast and will undergo further tests on Saturday. "It's tough. You try and regroup, but you just lost a guy who plays 25-30 minutes a night," said Stars center Joe Nieuwendyk. Dallas get a chance to even the series at home on Sunday.
