Clean sweep for Devils and Knights
![]() Bracknell Bees and the Cardiff Devils in action
BBC Sport Online's Stuart Hughes reviews the latest ice hockey action.
Cardiff Devils 7-4 Bracknell Bees Devils forward Denis Chasse scored his first goal in 25 league games on Tuesday night to help the Welsh side to a 7-4 victory against the Bracknell Bees at the Ice House. The former Bracknell skipper, who began the season with nine goals in as many games, opened the scoring on Cardiff's first power play of the night. He was followed 23 seconds later by recent Czech signing Ales Zima, who tucked home a rebound for his first goal on home ice. After Darren Hurley had pegged one back for the Bees at 7:44 strikes from Steve Moria and Ian McIntyre left the Devils in a commanding position at the end of the first period. Bracknell fought back strongly in the second session. Joe Cardarelli and Steve Moria traded goals before a second from Cardarelli and one from Dan Ceman left the Bees trailing by a single goal with 20 minutes left to play. But the Berkshire side was unable to maintain the strike rate in the final frame and goals from Ivan Matulik and Steve Thornton buried any hopes the Bees had of beating Cardiff for the first time this season.
London Knights 3-1 Newcastle Jesters The London Knights were left with more injury worries to contend with after their encounter with the Newcastle Jesters in Docklands. Defenceman Mikael Tjallden is facing a potentially spell out of action after clashing with Louis Bedard in the second period. The Knights had the better chances in the opening period and successfully killed a five-on-three power play towards the end of the session. After the incident which caused Tjallden to be stretchered off the ice, Randy Perry seized the power play chance to beat Newcastle netminder Tommy Satosaari. Great Britain international David Clarke equalised at 33:49 with a fine solo effort, skating down the left wing before nipping in towards the goal and firing the puck past Shawn Silver. The Knights replied less than four minutes later when Rich Bronilla sent the puck from centre ice to Mikko Koivunoro, who scored from six feet out. Brendan Yarema made doubly sure that London's 100% record against the Jesters in league play was maintained in the 55th minute when he grabbed a pass from Jay Neal and found the net for his 10th goal of the season.
