South African Mbulelo Botile lands a blow on Paul Ingle
Paul Ingle had a blood clot removed from his brain following the loss of his IBF world featherweight title to South Africa's Mbulelo Botile on Saturday.
Almost immediately the inquest into the circumstances surrounding Ingle's horrific injuries began. Fortunately, Paul Ingle is making good progress in his recovery. BBC Sport Online chronicles the post-fight reaction, the subsequent calls to ban boxing, and Paul Ingle's battle for his life.
The fight
Paul Ingle struggles to contain Mbulelo Botile for much of the bout. After being knocked down in the 11th Ingle looks a spent force but still returns to contest the final round that ultimately ends in disaster.
