German cyclist cleared of charges
![]()
German cyclist Andreas Kappes was cleared of doping charges on Monday.
The 34-year-old tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone at the German track championships last July in Hamburg. Laboratory tests confirmed though that the drug had been present in a food supplement that Kappes had taken. As a result the disciplinary committee of the German Cycling Federation (BRD) have now cleared him of all charges. "Unless the executive committee of the BRD has any objection to this decision, the case is over," BRD acting general secretary Karsten Schuetze announced.
