Massu and Fish reach final
Nicolas Massu of Chile
Nicolas Massu is on the verge of making Olympic history after beating unseeded American Taylor Dent to reach the men's singles final on Friday.

He moved just one match away from winning Chile's first Olympic gold medal in any sport with a 7-6 (7/5) 6-1 victory over Dent.

He must now play Mardy Fish after the unseeded American overcame another Chilean Fernando Gonzalez.

Fish beat the 16th seed 3-6 6-3 6-4 to earn his place in Sunday's final.

Gonzalez suffered a major blow when he twisted his left ankle in the fourth game of the second set after winning the first 6-3 and needed it strapped.

He won only one more game in that set to allow the American to take the set 6-3 and then dropped serve in the ninth game of the third set to enable Fish to serve out the match.

Dent saved three match points before netting a forehand to give Massu his chance in the final.

Mario Ancic and Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia won the men's doubles tennis bronze medal by upsetting Indian fifth seeds Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes.

The Croatian pairing, playing in only their fourth tournament together, won 7-6 (5) 4-6 16-14 in a match that lasted nearly four hours.
