Samsonov is among the favourites for gold in Athens

European champion Vladimir Samsonov had the perfect preparation for the Olympic Games with victory in the Ocean International Cup in Croydon.
The Belorussian defeated German number one Timo Boll 9-11 11-9 11-6 11-8 11-9.
In the earlier semi-finals, Samsonov disposed of the Greek player Kalinikos Kreanga, and Boll saw off Chen Weixing of Austria.
"With Athens only three weeks away I'm
delighted to win here," said Samsonov. "Also the money will be useful."
