'Dream Team' make last four
Stephon Marbury
The United States basketball team are through to the Olympic semi-finals after a 102-94 victory over Spain.

The 'Dream Team' had a one-point lead after the first-half then pulled away in the last quarter, but Spain always posed a threat.

Stephon Marbury top scored for the US with 31 points, while Paul Gasol led the Spanish scoring with 29 points.

The game will be remembered for debated referee decisions and a late US time-out that infuriated the crowd.

The Americans now face Argentina in the semi-finals after they saw off Greece 69-64.

The scores were tied at 53-53 going into the final quarter but the Argentine team prevailed despite the home crowd's passionate support for the hosts.

Luis Scola hit a pair of free throws with 23.4 seconds left to make the score at 67-64 in a tense finale.

Greece had a chance to tie on the next possession, but Fragkiskos Alvertis threw up a wild three-point effort that fell well short of the basket.

Earlier, Lithuania beat China 95-75 to reach the Athens final four.

China took a surprise early lead but Lithuania responded with a 13-point run to take control in the first half on their way to remain the only unbeaten team at the Games.

Yao Ming was a force at both ends of the court for the Chinese, scoring 29 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Reserve guard Arvydas Macijauskas had a big game for Lithuania, grabbing 32 points.

His team now meet Italy, who came through 83-70 against Puerto Rico.

Massimo Bulleri led a balanced attack from the Italians, scoring 20 points while Gianluca Basile added 18.

Elias Ayuso had 24 points and Carlos Arroyo knocked down 23 for Puerto Rico.

But no other player on the team reached double figures as the team shot a miserable 28% from beyond the arc, and only 38% overall from the floor.
