US women take 4x400m gold
British sprinter Lee McConnell
Hot favourites USA ran a controlled race to take 4x400m relay gold well clear of Russia and Jamaica.

Lee McConnell led the British team home in a good fourth after solid runs from Donna Fraser, Catherine Murphy and Christine Ohuruogu.

USA clocked a rapid 3 minutes 19.02 and were never in any danger, powering through the line 10 metres up.

McConnell ran another solid anchor leg, but had too much ground to make up on third and did well to seal fourth.
