Greece has reassured the United States that security for the Athens Olympics this summer will be "comprehensive".
Public Order Minister Giorgos Floridis
briefed US national security adviser Condoleezza Rice at the White House on precautions for the Games in August.
Floridis said Greece was spending three times more money on security and devoting three times more personnel than Australia did for Sydney in 2000.
"We have laid out a very comprehensive and good plan," Floridis said.
The Greek delegation also had appointments with FBI Director Robert Mueller and CIA Director George Tenet.
"We are sure [that with] these efforts, together with the great cooperation we have from experts in the field of security, we will achieve our goals," said Floridis.
"She [Rice] is absolutely sure that everything will go as planned security-wise during the Olympics in Greece."
Greece is keen to demonstrate it is capable of handling the security operations but has called for support from NATO allies.
The hosts are working with a seven-nation security advisory group, which includes the United States, Israel and Britain.
