Body of evidence removes Mark
British swimmer Mark Foster in his offending bodysuit
Mark Foster's bodysuit didn't meet with BOA approval
British swimmer Mark Foster will be kicked out of the Sydney Athletes' Village after being disciplined by the British Olympic Association.

Foster was carpeted by the BOA for wearing a branded bodysuit during last Friday's 50metres men's freestyle final.

Part of Foster's punishment is the removal of his accreditation, which means he must move out of the Games Village.

That not only removes his privileges as an athlete but he must also provide his own accommodation until he flies home on Wednesday.

Guidelines

The BOA said Foster had broken the Team GB guidelines for bodysuits which were agreed with the athletes, the Amateur Swimming Federation of Great Britain and Speedo prior to the Games.

A BOA statement confirming the action against Foster said: "A suit was provided to him direct by Speedo, with whom Mark is contracted, bypassing the arrangements put in place with the BOA for the supply of swimming bodysuits.

"Mark accepted that he had contravened the specific competition clothing agreement, which he had entered into with the BOA.

We simply cannot have one athlete's interests being put above those of the entire team.
BOA Chef de Mission Simon Clegg

"As a result of this action he has had his accreditation withdrawn."

BOA Chef de Mission Simon Clegg said: "It gives me absolutely no pleasure to take this action against someone who has been to four Olympic Games.

"But we simply cannot have one athlete's interests being put above those of the entire team. Mark signed the agreement and has accepted the decision."
