Repechage success for Brit rowers
![]() Tony Kay and Tom Middleton miss out in the double sculls
Great Britain's men's eight stormed into Sunday's final with a confident display in their repechage heat on Wednesday.
After seeing the women's eight fail to qualify from repechage, the British men controlled their heat from start to finish. In the previous heat, the highly-fancied US eight were taken to the line by a dogged Romanian boat. There was also repechage success, for Great Britain's women's quadruple sculls team. The quartet of Guin Batten, Gillian Lindsay, Katherine Grainger and Miriam Batten won the race in six minutes 30.96 seconds. The Danish team came in second to join Great Britain in the final. There was disappointment in the men's lightweight double sculls repechages, with Toms Kay and Tom Middleton missing out after coming third in their heat.
