Goode news for British pair
![]() Jo Goode and Donna Kellogg on their way to victory
Britain's Badminton medal hopes received a welcome boost as Donna Kellogg and Jo Goode took less than 30 minutes to cruise into the quarter-finals of the women's doubles.
Goode, who is also through to the semi-finals of the mixed doubles with Simon Archer, was in dominant form as the pairing swept aside Canadian duo Milanie Cloutier and Robbyn Hermitage 15-4 15-10. Seeded fourth, Goode and Kellogg raced through the first set and it was a similar story at the start of the second as they took a 10-5 lead. Though Cloutier and Hermitage briefly staged a recovery, the Brits kept their composure to set up an encounter with sixth seeds Ling Goa and Yiyuan Qin. Britain's second women's pair of Sarah Hardaker and Joanne Davies didn't enjoy such success as they were hammered 15-6 15-1 by third seeds Jae Hee Chung and Kyung-Min Ra. Earlier in the day Hardaker and Davies had looked comfortable in their first-round victory over Deyana Gresye Lomban and Nathanael Elysa of Indonesia. Richard Vaughan's hopes of a medal in his first Olympics were ended in the men's singles as the young Welshman went down in straight sets to China's Jun Sun.
