Williams and Co eye Sydney sweep
![]() The Williams sisters are in unstoppable doubles form
Wimbledon winner Venus Williams, Australian Open champion Lindsay Davenport, US Open champion Serena Williams and former world number one Monica Seles have all been named in the United States' Olympic women's tennis team.
The announcement of the dream team follows confirmation that the four players have agreed to make the trip to Sydney next month. Their selection was already known as a result of their rankings. Serena Williams will play only doubles, alongside her sister Venus, while the other three will compete in singles. The four have combined for 14 career Grand Slam titles, including four of the past five.
"A sweep of medals in singles and a gold in doubles in Sydney is not entirely out of the question." Reigning champion Davenport is the reigning Olympic champion and the daughter of a 1968 US men's volleyball Olympian. The Williams girls have won the past three Grand Slam doubles titles they have entered - the 1999 US and French Opens and this year's Wimbledon crown. "We're the best doubles team America has because it's impossible to beat two of us. It really is," Venus Williams said.
